The University's
roots go back to the early 1970's when a group of Attorneys
and Professors founded a predecessor under the name "Irvine University",
one of whose graduates eventually became a judge of
the Orange County Superior Court. A change of ownership
brought the current iteration of Irvine University into
existence in 1993, about 16 years ago. The first college
of the University was the College of Law. Since that
time, Irvine University College of Law has fostered
the development of the legal education of many professionals.
Among our alumni are judges, practicing lawyers, politicians,
international personages, successful administrators
and business owners.
Irvine University College of
Law offers an affordable, high quality legal education
to the broadest range of qualified applicants. Students
seeking opportunities in litigation and other legal
work obtain the benefits of a legal education. Those
who do not wish to practice law gain the legal knowledge
necessary to protect business interests and engage
in commerce with confidence. Finally, some students
simply wish to learn more about the basis of their
Governmental and Judicial functions.
In the spring of 2003, Irvine
University established the College of Business and
the College of Liberal Arts. It added to its curriculum
certificate, undergraduate, and graduate programs
in Business Administration, Education, and English
studies.
The college enjoys excellent
relations with its community. In a 2006 proclamation,
the City of Cerritos commended the university's role
in community life. In June, 2008, the Los Angeles
County Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted a
resolution commending the university for educational
achievement in our business, law, and liberal arts
programs, recognizing our contribution in providing
educational opportunities and advancement for county
residents. Lee Baca, Sheriff of Los Angeles County,
attended the university's 2008 commencement ceremonies
at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Los Angeles Music
Center, to personally congratulate sheriff's deputies
who were graduating with JD Degrees.
Whether you are interested
in a full-time or part-time program, Irvine University
makes it possible for you to pursue your education.
Students who work full-time are now enrolled in various
courses throughout the week, including evenings and
weekends. Irvine University provides a meaningful
alternative to other schools by emphasizing a high
quality education in a highly interactive seminar-like
learning environment.
