GLIAUDYS, GEORGE J., J.R., J.D.,

Dean of the College of Law


Dean Gliaudys received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Southern California, in 1965, his Diploma in the US Army Command and General Staff College from Fort Leavenworth, Kansas in 1983, his Certificate in Management from California Polytechnic University, Pomona in 1986, and his Juris Doctor from Loyola Marymount University in 1968. Dean Gliaudys has served as Deputy Director for Management and Administrative Services from 2000-2002, Special Assistant to Director for the Bureau of Family Support Operations, District Attorney’s Office from 1990-1996; Chairman for the Los Angeles County Managers’ Quality and Productivity Network from 1995 – 1996, Manager, Operational Division from 1996 – 2000, as a Consultant on Management Practices for the State of California Department of Child Support Services; and as a Representative of District Attorney to Child Adult Systems Information Advisory Board from 1993 – 1996.  Dean Gliaudys served as a Commissioner for the Los Angeles County Child Support Advisory Board, and as Commissioner for the Senior Citizens Commission of the City of West Covina. Dean Gliaudys is an active member of the California State Bar. He is also an inactive member of the District of Columbia Bar.

TRENT, NICHOLAS EDWARD, J.D.,

Associate Dean of Law


Dean Trent received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Irvine University College of Law in 1996. Dean Trent’s experiences include holding various positions with prestigious companies, such as President /CEO at Sutton Industries, Inc., Chairman at Pay Day Publications, Chairman/CEO at Alan Weston Communication, Inc., President at Maxoil Inc., and currently an Associate of Smith, Silbar, Parker and Wonffinden. Dean Trent specializes in Business acquisitions, mergers, marketing strategies, and contracts. Dean Trent is an active member of the California State Bar.

CARON, SCOTT E., J.D.,

Associate Professor of Law


Professor Caron received his BFA in Dramatic Writing from New York University in 1998 and his Juris Doctor from Whittier Law School in 2003, graduating in the top 2% of his class. Professor Caron served on the Moot Court Honors Board for the University of San Diego Criminal Procedure Competition in 2001, the Burton Weschler First Amendment Competition in 2002, the University of San Diego Criminal Procedure Competition in 2002, and the Burton Weschler First Amendment Competition in 2003. He also received the CALI Awards for Excellence in the areas of Real Property, Commercial Transactions I (UCC), Constitutional Law I, Criminal Procedure, Professional Responsibility Skills, and the First Amendment Seminar. Professor Caron’s other experiences include serving as a Literary Assistant at Florida Studio Theatre in 1998-1999, a Quality Control Reviewer for Merrill Corporation in 1999-2000, and currently serves as an Attorney at Kirkpatrick and Fields, LLP since 2001. Professor Caron’s teaching experience includes serving as a Teaching Assistant in the Real Property course and in Academic Success Program in 2002-2003. Professor Caron is an active member of the California State Bar.

TOLERICO, JASON,  J.D.,

Assistant Professor of Law


Professor Tolerico received his Bachelor of Arts in 1996, in Political Science from the University of Southern California. He later attended Whittier Law School where he was graduated in 2005 Magna Cum Laude with a Juris Doctorate degree. He also received CALI Awards in Wills, Entertainment Law and Legal Skills. While in school, he participated in several Moot Court trials throughout the state with his Trial Advocacy colleagues in competition against law schools from Southern California. He was also a Student Body Representative as well as an intricate part of a committee that worked side by side with the Dean dedicated to improving the school’s Bar Passage rate. Professor Tolerico worked as a clerk at the Public Defender’s Office at Harbor Court in Newport Beach during Law School. Furthermore, he has passed the bar exam in California as well as Nevada, New York and Arizona. Professor Tolerico runs a personal and private bar review course called One-Timers. Professor Tolerico is an active member of the Nevada State Bar.

LEWIS, NICOLE R., J.D.,

Assistant Professor of Law


Professor Lewis received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from California State University, Fresno in 1996 and her Juris Doctor from Western State University College of Law in 2000. During her undergraduate studies, Professor Lewis earned the following awards / distinctions: Dean’s Honor List -Spring 1993 and Fall 1994, Dean’s Honor List – Spring 1995 and Fall 1995, Black Faculty and Staff Scholarship Recipient – Fall 1995, Honorable Mention – National Black Graduate Student Research Conference – Spring 1996 and the Outstanding Student Award, Department of African American Studies – Spring 1996. During her graduate studies, Professor Lewis earned the following awards / distinctions: West Publishing Company Corpus Juris Secundum Award, Criminal Law (San Francisco Law School), American Jurisprudence Bancroft – Whitney Award, Criminal Law (San Francisco Law School) – 1997 – 1998, the Eric Falconer Scholarship Recipient (San Francisco Law School) and the Ester F. Blum Foundation Award Recipient (San Francisco Law School) in Fall 1998, and the Dean’s Scholar in Fall 2000. Professor Lewis’ professional experiences include serving as the Mayoral Aide Constituent Services Representative with the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Office from 2001 – July 2002, as a Staff Attorney with County of Los Angeles Child Support Services Department from 2002 –2003, and as an Associate Attorney with the Law Office of Douglas and Garey, LLP from 2003 –2004, as the Solo Practitioner for the Law Office of Nicole R. Lewis since 2004. Professor Lewis’ educational experiences include serving as a Structured Study Group Leader for Western State University College of Law preparing written lesson plans, reviewing practice exams, and helping first-year law students to engage in cooperative learning. Professor Lewis is an active member of the California State Bar.

Professor Simmons received his Bachelor of Arts from Purdue University in Indiana in 1973 and his Juris Doctor from University of West Los Angeles School of Law in 1985. He has been in practice for 22 years as an attorney for a major insurance company performing staff, trial and corporate functions. He has been involved in teaching seminars and workshops on insurance law for attorneys, adjusters and other claims risk managers. He is an active member of the California State Bar.

BARILLA, FRANK, J.D.,

Assistant Professor of Law

Professor Barilla received his Bachelor of Science from Mercy College in New York in 1972 and his Juris Doctor from Western State University Law School in 1979. Since 1982 he has been in private practice focusing on criminal defense and family law. He has taught paralegal courses and law courses at various educational institutions since 1986. Professor Barilla is an active member of the California State Bar.

JAROSCAK, MAUREEN P., J.D.,

Assistant Professor of Law

Professor Jaroscak received her Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Fullerton, in 1973, and her Juris Doctor from Western State University Law School in 1984.  She was the Editor in Chief of the Western State University Law Review while attending law school.  Since 1983 Professor Jaroscak has worked in corporate, private law offices, and is currently a partner in the Firm of Oxman and Jaroscak. She has lectured in CLE courses for attorneys from 2005 until currently in legal ethics, bias and substance abuse. Professor Jaroscak is an active member of the California State Bar.

KLEIN, GERALD, J.D.,

Assistant Professor of Law


Professor Klein received his Bachelor of Science in Law and Juris Doctor from Western State University Law School in 1975. He is a Certified Specialist – Family Law – by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He has served as Juvenile Court Referee, Judge Pro Tem and Consultant on Domestic Violence for various groups. He was the Founder and Executive Director for a non-profit agency “Kids First” that addresses children issues. He received the State Bar’s “President’s Pro Bono Service Award” in District 8 in 1985. Professor Klein is an active member of the California State Bar.

LUGO-RINALDI, CHRISTINE, J.D.,

Assistant Professor of Law


Professor Lugo-Rinaldi received her B.A. in Political  Science from California State University, Long Beach and JD from Whittier Law School in 1983. While in law school, she was a member of the Moot Court Honors board where she received the award for Bests Competitor. Prof. Lugo-Rinaldi was chosen by the California Young Lawyers Association to receive their Most Outstanding Student award and  First Place oralist and Second Place Team Award in the Robert J. Traynor statewide moot court competition. Prof. Lugo-Rinaldi practiced civil law in the firm of Findley, Clark and Tanzman where she handled a variety of civil cases. In 1984, Prof. Lugoi-Rinaldi joined the Office of The Public defender where she, literally, practiced her career in the court room as a criminal lawyer. She completed more than 80 jury trials, 44 court trials and numerous  and various kinds of motions. Her practice included Felony and Misdemeanor criminal court, Juvenile court and  Family law court. Prof. Lugo-Rinaldi  also  has taught at Whittier Law school where her classes  have included Trusts and Estates, Criminal Law, Evidence, Criminal Procedure and the Uniform Commercial Code. Her professional experience also includes teaching at U.C. Irvine, where she was recognized for her contribution to the Gifted Student Program. Prof. Lugo-Rinaldi has been active with the California State Bar serving as vice president of the Committee on Ethnic Minority Relations and was a featured speaker in the role of the public service lawyer. She is an active member of the California State Bar.

LAM, TUAN A., J.D.,

Assistant Professor of Law

Professor Lam received his Bachelor of Arts from University of California, Irvine, in 1993 and his Juris Doctor from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1997. He has been active in private law practice with several large law firms as well as serving as Deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles County, handling criminal hearings. Professor Lam is on the Board of Directors for the City of Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity and is involved in several other community-based organizations in Orange County. Professor Lam is an active member of the California State Bar.

TANNEHILL, MADELINE, J.D.,

Associate Professor of Law


Professor Tucci Tannehill received her Bachelor of Arts in History, Magna Cum Laude, from Mount St. Mary’s College in 1977 and her Juris Doctor from Western State University College of Law in 1980. For over 17 years, she worked as a personal injury and commercial litigator, during which time she became the first female partner of a law firm where she practiced for nine years prior to opening the doors of Tannehill & Tannehill with her husband in 1995. Since 2003, Professor Tucci Tannehill has operated her own private mediation practice and during this time she has conducted in-house mediations for Vons, and worked as a court and private mediator through Dispute Resolution Service, Inc. of the Riverside County Bar Association. She also received a three-year appointment, 2009-2011, as court mediator of Riverside Superior Court’s 2009 Civil Mediation Program. Professor Tucci Tannehill has mediated in excess of 300 cases and is an active member of the California State Bar.

RAINEY, GEORGETTA, J.D.,

Assistant Professor of Law


Professor Rainey received her Bachelor of Arts from Oakwood University, Huntsville, Alabama in 1982, and her Juris Doctor from Howard University Law School in 1986. She received the American Jurisprudence Award in the areas of Commercial Paper and Legal process; selected to be the Assistant to the Vice President of Howard University School of Law; served as a Student Assistant Instructor in Property Law; graduated in the top 25% of Law School Class; and admitted to practice in California 1987. She founded the law firm Ricks Rainey Attorneys at Law in September 1990. The firm was formerly the Law Offices of Georgetta Ricks Rainey. The firm specializes in Family Law, Personal Injury Law, Real Estate Law and Entertainment Law. The firm offers quality legal services to its clients in these hard economic times. Professor Rainey is a member California Bar.

Robert A. Hufnagel received his Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law in 2000. While in law school, Robert was a Board Member of Southwestern’s Trial Advocacy Honors Program. Robert earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a minor in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside in 1997. He is a civil and business litigator with an emphasis on professional liability. He is an active member of the California State Bar.

NAIMI, HALEH C., J.D., L.L.M.,

Assistant Professor of Law


Professor Naimi received her B.S. in Mathematics and Economics from UCLA and Master of Arts in Economics from Georgetown University. She is a Dean’s List graduate from Southwestern University School of Law where she earned CALI Excellence Awards in Secured Transactions and Federal Corporate Taxation. In 2005, she earned her LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law. 

After serving as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Arthur M. Greenwald, United States Bankruptcy Court Judge, Professor Naimi spent six years in private practice representing clients in many of the country’s most complex Chapter 11 proceedings. She currently operates her own law practice specializing in bankruptcy and commercial litigation. She is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Central District of California and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She is an active member of the California State Bar.

HOANG, RICHARD, J.D.,

Professor Hoang received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of California, San Diego in 2000. He then received his Juris Doctorate degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 2004. Professor Hoang is a civil litigator with experience in employment law, as well as professional and executive liability. He is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and is currently a member of the executive committee to the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s delegation to the Conference of California Bar Associations. He is an active member of the California State Bar.

WIGGINS, HERBERT, J.D.,

Assistant Professor of Law


Herbert Wiggins is a Los Angeles-area litigator of long experience, having served as a retained outside attorney for companies such as Ford Motor Company, Kaiser Permanente, McDonnell Douglas, and Mobile Oil, as well as public entities such as the Los Angeles and Oakland Unified School Districts, the County of Los Angeles, the City and County of San Francisco, and the San Francisco Housing Authority. He currently practices in the field of Bankruptcy Law, assisting individuals and businesses in financial distress to find solutions to their financial hardships. Mr. Wiggins received a B.A. cum laude in History and Spanish from Dartmouth College in 1981, a Juris Doctorate from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, in 1985, and an MBA from Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California, in 2000. He is an active member of the State Bar of California.

SALZMAN, CHAD, J.D.,

Assistant Professor of Law


Professor Salzman is currently a Deputy City Prosecutor for the City of Long Beach. Prior to that position he was a Deputy District Attorney for the County of Sacramento. He is a trial attorney specializing in criminal prosecution. He also sits on the Board of Governors for the Long Beach Bar Association.

Mr. Salzman received a J.D. from McGeorge School of Law, at University of the Pacific, in 2006. While there, he served on the Student Bar Association and held leadership roles in several other student organizations. He also earned a B.A. degree from Arizona State University in 2003.

Mr. Salzman is an active member of the State Bar of California.

Professor Sanchez received his P.O.S.T. Certificate from Rio Hondo Police Academy in 1979, his Paralegal Certificate from Barclay College in 1988, his B.S. in Laws from Irvine University College of Law (IUCOL) in 1998, and his JD from IUCOL in 2001. Professor Sanchez’s professional experiences include serving as a Paralegal with Darren L. Myers, Esq from 1991 – 1994, as a Managing Partner and Chief Instructor with U.S. Tae Kwon Do Studios from 1994 – 1998, a Contract Litigator with Kia Motors America, Irvine CA in 2003, as the Project Manager and acting General Manager with J &R Investments, Inc. Corona CA. Land acquisition / development from 2003 – 2005, and as Law Clerk and/or Paralegal handling complex Civil, Family and Business Litigation, Real Estate, Criminal Law, Corporate Law, and Bankruptcy cases with Law Offices of Robert J. Legate, Law Offices of Michael Hammad, Law Office of Buddy Clark, Law Office of Lenore Albert, Paul R. Allione Attorney at Law and Law Office of Yolanda Flores-Burt between the years of 1998 – 2005. BOWERS, PATRICK R., J.D.,

Assistant Professor of Law

Professor Bowers received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UCLA. Professor Bowers enjoyed his last quarter of college in Washington DC where he studied at the UCLA Center for American Politics and Public Policy and interned for the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

In 2006 Professor Bowers began his legal studies at Boston University School of Law. During his second year of law school, Professor Bowers participated in the Civil Litigation Clinic and Legislative Internship Clinic in which he interned for the Massachusetts Senate Minority Leader. Professor Bowers enjoyed his last semester of law school at the Tel Aviv University Faculty of Law studying international law.

Professor Bowers obtained his Juris Doctorate from Boston University in 2009. Shortly thereafter, he joined a well-respected law firm in central California as an associate attorney. Professor Bowers now maintains his own practice in Southern California. Professor Bowers is an active member of the California State Bar.

LIU, MARY SING TING, J.D.,

Assistant Professor of Law

Professor Liu received her Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Florida in 1994 and her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University in 2010, where she graduated summa cum laude, ranking in the top 2% of her class.

Professor Liu’s work experience includes family law, dependency, criminal law, and commercial litigation. Most recently, she served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Florida, where she civilly prosecuted parents who abused, abandoned, or neglected their minor children. Professor Liu has received the CALI Awards for Excellence in the areas of Legal Research and Writing, Wills and Trusts, and Nonprofit Organizations. She also served as a staff member for the ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law. Prior to her legal career, Professor Liu spent thirteen years in Corporate America, specializing in marketing, consulting, and leading seminars and workshops. Professor Liu is an active member of the Florida Bar.

HANNA, DAVID, J.D.,

Assistant Professor of Law

Professor Hanna received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola Marymount University in 2002, his Juris Doctor degree from Irvine University in 2006, and his Master of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University 2011. He is owner of a major national specialty distribution company Sierra Network, Inc., and a Los Angeles area real estate management firm. His teaching focus is upon commercial law topics and international business transactions.
