HOW TO DROP OR WITHDRAW FROM A COURSE
Student Drop Policy:
- A student is considered to have dropped a course when the student drops the course(s) during the 1st week (7 calendar days from the start date of the class) that the course begins, with no intention of returning.
- A student may drop a course that they have enrolled in at Irvine University, within this timeframe, and receive a refund for all or part of the courses not taken.
- The course is completely taken off the student’s transcript, with no record of ever registering for the course.
- Your refund rights are described in the Refund Policy below. You will receive up to a 90% refund – (minus) the application and registration fees.
- To drop your course(s), mail or deliver a signed and dated copy of the Notice of Drop form, which includes a written statement requesting to drop and the reasons for it, to the University at the address 10900 183RD Street, Suite 330, Cerritos, CA 90703. You may also fax such notice to 1-562-865-5511 or e-mail it to registrar@irvineuniversity.edu
Student Withdraw Policy:
- A student is considered to have withdrawn from a course when the student drops the course(s) after the first week that the course begins.
- When a student withdraws from a course, the student will receive a “W” on their transcript.
- Your refund rights are described in the Refund Policy below. You will receive up to a 60% refund – (minus) the application and registration fees.
- To withdraw from your course(s), mail or deliver a signed and dated copy of the Notice of Withdraw form, which includes a written statement requesting cancellation and the reasons for it, to the University at the address 10900 183RD Street, Suite 330, Cerritos, CA 90703. You may also fax such notice to 1-562-865-5511 or e-mail it to registrar@irvineuniversity.edu.
Refund Policy:
- The student has a right to a full refund of all charges less the amount of $30 for the application fee and $75.00 for registration fees if he/she withdraws from his/her course(s) prior to or on the first day of instruction.
- In addition, the student may cancel, withdraw, or drop a course after instruction has started and receive a pro rata refund for the unused portion of the tuition, if the student has completed 60% or less of the instruction.
- Percent of Attendance Time Maximum Amount of Refund:
Up to 10% of class attendance hours: 90%
Over 10% – 25% of class attendance hours: 75%
Over 25% – 60% of class attendance hours: 60%
Over 60% of class attendance hours: No refund
- All refunds will be paid within 30 days of cancellation, drop or withdrawal.
Refund Calculation Example:
- The student paid tuition for 1 graduate course in the MBA Program.
- The total amount paid was $600 for tuition (3 units or 45 lecture hours) + $75 non-refundable registration fee $675 paid
- The student withdraws from the course after attended 6 hours of instruction.
- So, the student attended 13% of class attendance hours.
- The student would receive 75% of the tuition paid – (minus) the $75 registration fee. $ 450 refund
- If the student attended 8% of attendance hours, the student would receive a 90% refund. $540 refund
- If the student attended 50% of attendance hours, the student would receive a 50% refund. $300 refund
